Although his death was unexpected, he passed peacefully at the side of his wife of 59 years, Sue, just as he would've wished. It is an understatement to say he lived a full life. Ed was born in Midland, TX on June 19, 1938, and raised in Conroe. He attended Southern Methodist University, where he was the president of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. It was at SMU, where he met the love of his life. After graduation, Ed and Sue married and remained in Dallas. He followed in his father's footsteps, and began his career in retail management. While balancing his career and an enlistment in the Coast Guard Reserves, Ed and Sue started what would grow into a large and loving family, his true legacy. His three sons, Steve, Dave, and Mike, were all born in Dallas, before his career took the family to Mountain Brook, AL, Rocky River, OH, and eventually to Houston, TX. Raised in the Methodist tradition, yet an Episcopalian since marriage, Ed and Sue found their church home at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal in 1983 and it has remained so ever since. After a successful career in retail management, Ed had the courage to change careers in middle age. He leveraged his previous work experience to not only further his career as a financial advisor, but also to build a strong family business, Lancaster Wealth Management, which two of his sons now operate. Ed's success can be attested to his intense passion for helping people from all walks of life. He listened like no other and loved getting to know his clients' life stories, their concerns and dreams. Relationship building was his expertise, whether it was to nourish his own tight-knit family or those of his clients. Ed loved to learn, read, travel, and paint. His mischievous sense of humor and his infectious laughter is remembered by all who knew him. He loved a good joke, a glass of fine Scotch, or even a cheap one! But, hands-down, his greatest love was his family and being surrounded by them. He absolutely included his circle of friends as "family", especially his Saint Dunstan's family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Louise Lancaster, and his beloved sister Laura Beth Porter. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, his sons Steve, Dave, and Mike, his daughters-in-law Michelle and Kassie, his niece Lisa Burks, his grandchildren Jacob, Jessica, Ryan, Angela, Ian, Jake, Ben, Adam, and his great-grandson Lucas. A funeral service will be held at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church at 14301 Stuebner Airline Rd., Houston on March 30th at 11:00 a.m. Ed's ashes will be laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Dunstan's. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
