Donahue, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, August 25th, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Born 1924 on Darlings Island, daughter of the late Percival and Gladys (DeVoe) Henderson. She is survived by her son, Richard and daughter, Margaret; sisters, Lillian Anderson, Nauwigewauk, Louise Dickson, Hammond River, Joan Henderson, Saint John and Norma Compton (Robert), Plymouth, Mass.; one brother, Ronald Henderson, Darlings Island; sisters-in-law, Vivian Kerr, Helen Carlson and Norma Cook; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by sister, Marilyn and brother, James. Irene graduated from Hampton Consolidated School and Saint John Vocational School specializing in Beauty Culture. Worked in her profession for several years on Grand Manan, Saint John and Rothesay, NB and she also lived in Middleton, Connecticut. Irene took an active part in the Liberal party. She was a member of Nauwigewauk Christian Church. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation 7 to 9pm, Wednesday and 2 to 4pm & 7 to 9pm, Thursday. The funeral will be held Friday, 11:00 am, at Reid's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Henderson officiating. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery.
