He was a graduate of the San Bernardino High School, class of 1908, and of the San Bernardino Business College. After completing his studies he went to Davis, California, and became business manager of the State Agricultural College at that city. He remained in that position several years and then returned to San Bernardino, where he made his home until his death in 1930. He worked in San Bernardino for the Santa Fe Railroad, in the offices of the superintendent, for seven years and then went into the county auditor's office as one of the deputies. Leaving there, he engaged in the trucking business under the firm name of the Boehm Transfer Company, with trucks running between San Bernardino, Los Angeles and intermediate points. He was one of the Associated Warehouse Company and was instrumental in raising the money to build the warehouse in San Bernardino, at a cost of more than $250,000. He was San Bernardino agent for a number of Los Angeles papers and numerous magazines. This latter business he disposed of and engaged in the roofing business, in which he continued until his death. He was a member of San Bernardino Lodge No. 348, A. F. and A. M.; Woodmen of the World; served one enlistment in the National Guard of California, in which he was a noncommissioned officer; was a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen and of the First Baptist Church. He married Miss Grace Hisom, and they had three children: Rosalind, Glenn and Evelyn. Mrs. Shaw is a daughter of Fred and Ora Hisom, old and honored residents of San Bernardino.
