  • Obituary: Wright, LeRoy Donald, 81, Truro, passed away December 21, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born and raised in Brookfield, he was a son of the late Roy and Jessie (Carter) Wright. Lee was educated at Success Business College in Truro. In his early years he was employed at MacPhails Insurance Company, William A. Flemming Feed & Mill and later spent 30 years employed at Frank B. MacCallum's Mens Wear as a Bookkeeper, Clerk and Buyer, making many loyal customers and good friends along the way. He later opened LeRoy's Mens Wear which he operated with his family for 10 years before his retirement. Always interested in sports, he played hockey and softball as a young man and later enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. Lee was always up for a game of cards, especially enjoying 45's and Crib. He enjoyed reminiscing and telling stories and jokes with his many friends. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Hamilton) Wright of 54 years; daughter, Shelly, Truro; son, Bruce, Truro and daughter, Diane (Tim) McInnis, Halifax. He was a much loved Papa to his four grandsons, Alex and Ian Johnson, Truro, Blake and Andrew McInnis, Halifax; sister, Phyllis Ward, Truro; Aunts, Sylvia Carter, Rose Carter, Pauline Carter and Norma Collins, all of Brookfield; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Anne Hamilton, Montreal, sister-in-law, Kathryn Smith, Thunder Bay, Ontario and her husband, Terry Smith, a special brother-in-law and friend to LeRoy; sister-in-law, Margaret Howe, Long Island, New York. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, David Ward. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to special friends, Donnie and Beth Smith for their kindness and support over the years and also to Dr. Gary Curtis for his continuous care. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, December 22nd with a celebration of Lee's life taking place Wednesday, December 23 at 11:00 am, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Rev. Frank Locke officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Old Barns Cemetery.
