  • Obituary: John W. Schoen, 37, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at his residence surround by his family after his battle with colon cancer. John was born May 6, 1972, in Provo, Utah to Robert A. and Janet W. Schoen. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Texas State University and a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's University. John was a Licensed Professional Counselor, a certified teacher in social studies for 8th to 12th grades and was employed by Tropical Texas Behavioral Health Brownsville Children's Unit. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served on a two year mission for his church in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1991 to 1993. John was active with his family, the Elders Quorum at his church, Tae Kwon Do, skydiving, bonsai, and acting. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqui Schoen, his children, Tommy, Sheridan, Rita and Miles; his parents Robert A. Schoen, Sr. and Janet W. Schoen; siblings, Rob Kaelene Schoen, Heather Shaman Morris, Beth John Nelson, Janet Schoen, Becky Dave Filhart, Mike Heather Schoen, and Christen Schoen; and 5 nieces and 7 nephews. John is also survived by his parents-in-law, Tom and Rosemarie Hoopes; sister and brother-in-law, Sandie and Joel Benitez.
