  • Obituary: BLIGH, Wm. Lester - 87, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away June 8, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Chute) Bligh. Lester had been the manager of Bligh's Theatre, Berwick, worked as a provincial forest ranger, a game warden and a real estate agent for Nova Scotia Trust (later named Central Trust). He was an ardent outdoorsman and a sports enthusiast. He had coached several teams in minor sports and had been inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member and honorary deacon of the Berwick Baptist Church and a veteran and former chief of the Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his daughter, Marlene (Carroll) Kinsman, Falmouth; grandchildren, Tim (Dianne) Taylor, Halifax; Todd Taylor, Bedford; Jane (Tim) Manning, Greenwich; Tina (Mike) Sanford, Fall River; great-grandchildren, Dylan Manning and Samantha Taylor; brother, Harley (Maizie) Bligh, Berwick; sister-in-law, Beatrice Bligh, Somerset. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Bertha Louise (Thomas) Bligh; sister, Violet Jacques; brothers, Kenneth and Orlay. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, 192 Commercial St., Berwick (902-538-9900). The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, in Berwick Baptist Church, Rev. Murray Shaw officiating with a reception to follow in the church annex. Burial in Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Berwick Baptist Church or Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
