Born in Berwick, Nova Scotia, on September 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Elsie (Powers) Chase and devoted wife of the late Harold Stanley Robinson. After graduating from Berwick High School, Verna attended Mack Business College and graduated with a secretarial diploma in 1950. Verna worked as secretary and bookkeeper at Minas Basin Pulp & Power Co. Ltd., Hantsport, N.S. for many years until she moved to New Minas, N.S. in the 1970's where she worked in various capacities, first as a teller at Central & Eastern Trust Co., then as manager of a Pizza Delight and finally as a legal secretary in New Minas. Verna remained in secretarial work and ended her 42-year career on a high-note, as the Base Commander's secretary at CFB Toronto. Verna had many interests which included gardening, knitting, crocheting, baking and cake-decorating for family gatherings and she especially enjoyed traveling. She lived in Richmond Hill, Ontario for over 25 years, and loved going to Florida every winter with her husband, Stan. She moved to Kanata, Ontario in 2009 when her husband's health started to decline as she wanted to be closer to her daughter, Karen. She was very dedicated to her family and is survived by her three children; son, Vernon Lutz, Coldbrook, N.S., daughters, Karen (Denis) Croteau, Kanata, ON, and Dale Meuse, Bedford, N.S.; brother, Gerald (Darlene) Chase, Wolfville, N.S.; five grandchildren; Jason, Mark and Jessica Lutz, Chelsea and Shawn Meuse; one step-grandchild, Crystal (Glen) Hollingshead; and five great-grandchildren; Dawson, Alexander and Logan Lutz, Cooper and Lochlin Hollingshead. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Cecil Chase, and first husband and father of her three children, Whitney Lutz, and her step-daughter, Debbie Lawler. Verna will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. Friends may pay respects after 12:30 p.m. on January 16, 2020 at Kelly Funeral Home - Kanata Chapel 580 Eagleson Rd., Kanata, ON A Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev.
