She was a daughter of the late Rudolph (Joe) and Josephine Casavechia (Lavatori). Rita was born on February 19, 1923, in Hali-fax and died in Dartmouth General Hospital March 1st, 2014, surround-ed by family members. She is sur-vived by her only son, Christopher; her brothers, Leo Casavechia (Donis) and John Casavechia (Margaret); sister-in-law, Glenna Casavechia, and many nieces and nephews, and special mention to her niece, Joan Connors. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Allison Palmer; brothers, Walter, William, Daniel, and sister, Georgina, in infancy. Rita grew up in Woodside and attended Woodside and Imperoyal schools. When her husband, Paul, was alive, they lived in New Brunswick, Que-bec, and Ontario, and returned to Nova Scotia after Paul's death. Rita enjoyed working in her garden, feeding the birds, reading about other parts of the world, and over the years, loved sewing, needle-point, and many other crafts. Her greatest wish in life was to shop un-til she dropped. I would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the third floor Dartmouth General Hospital who showed my mother great kindness in her final days, particularly Nurse Tony Sources Obituary: Dartmouth,NS March 1,2014 Images Rita Casavechia Birth Rita (Casavechia) Palmer Paul Palmer Marriage
