  • Obituary: PALMER, Hilda Rebecca - 90, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, formerly of Stanley, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2005, in Dykeland Lodge. Born September 25, 1914 in North Kingston, Kings Co., she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Ethel (Sanford) Warner. Hilda started out in life as a teacher and then a homemaker. She was former Provincial Director of the Nova Scotia Division of the Cancer Society and former chair of Hants County Social Services Appeal Board. She was a member of the Mosherville Union Church where she played the organ for over 45 years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter, Joy (Donald) Morash, Stanley, and granddaughter, Alison Morash, at home; sisters-in-law, Mary and Margaret Warner; niece, Joan MacDonald, and nephews, Millard and Terry Warner. She was predeceased by husband, Russell; brothers, Lorne and Harold; sisters, Verna Palmer and Laura Warner, and nephew, Carleton Warner. Cremation has taken place with visitation 1-2 p.m. Monday, May 23, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., both in Mosherville Union Church, Mosherville, reception to follow in the church, Rev. Shelley Pick officiating with Gloria McClure-Fraser assisting. A committal service will be held in St. Stephens Anglican Church Cemetery, Stanley.
