  • Obituary: It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Dotten, formally of Cambridge, Kings County announce her passing in the Grand View Manor on October 10, 2016. Jean was born in Waterville on April 24, 1927 and was the oldest daughter of the late Wilfred and Marion (Pinch) Strong. Jean was a devoted wife and mother and always ready to lend a helping hand to her children and their offspring. Being a service wife Jean spent many years living in different provinces. Jean always maintained strong family ties with her siblings. She spent many enjoyable summers at the cottage. Some of her passions were cooking, trying new recipes and growing roses. Jean is survived by her daughters Donna Hirtle of Berwick; Marlene Saunders of Airdrie, AB and her only son Terry (Sue) Parrish of Ottawa, ON; 10 grandchildren Donald "Corky", Douglas, DeeAnn and Dawn Hirlte; Collin and Christa Brown; Sean Saunders; Shane, Kyle and Christopher Parrish; 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; step daughters Carol, Bertha and Barbara; step sons James and Dale; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Jean was predeceased by her previous husbands Murray Parrish and Leonard Dotten, brothers Bud, Wilford "Junior" and Carl, sister Evelyn and 2 great granddaughters. Jean resided at Hilltop Haven before her move to Grandview Manor. Thank you to Darlene and her staff for their loving care. A special thank you to the Doctors and Staff at the Ross Unit at the Grandview Manor for their care and compassion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Berwick Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Berwick Chapel with Pastor Darryl Dykens officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
