Conan passed away peacefully at All Saints Hospital, Springhill, on Saturday, January 28, 2017, surrounded by family. Born in Fenwick, NS, he was a son of the late Osborne and Nellie (Smith) Ripley. He was an outdoors man, loved spending time in the woods. Over the years he worked for various companies as a truck driver, finishing with Armour Transport. His booming laugh was something people never forgot. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Marie, Fenwick; son Gerald (Meg) Ripley, Phillipines; daughter, Catherina Ripley, Fenwick; 2 grand daughters, 4 grandsons and 5 great grandchildren; sisters Kathleen Ells, Moncton N.B., as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Wallace; sisters Hilda (Gordon) Donkin, Hazel Ripley, Elsie Eaton & Beryl MacGillivary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service, celebrating Conan's life will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from the Faith United Pentecostal Church. Pastor Jonathan Cole officiating. Burial will take place in the Fenwick Cemetery in the spring. Donations in memory of Conan may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lung Association or charity of your choice.
