Notes

  • Obituary: Age 71, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the VG Hospital, Halifax with his family by his side. Born in Liverpool to the late Walter and Ruth (Cohoon) Manning. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. David felt it was important to give back to his community, and so, was a dedicated, active member of the Milford District Lions Club, holding many positions over the years. One of his many passions was working with the Dog Guide Foundation and he enjoyed many trips to the Oakville School for Dog Guides. David was proud to be a part of the construction and completion of the Milford Rec Trails; where he enjoyed many walks with his family, pets and friends. No one loved a good meal like David, he was a major foodie, and loved to share his passion for food with others. He was always up for a good adventure, road trip, hiking or canoeing. This eventually evolved into a love for Geocaching. He founded the Manning Annual New Year's Day Canoe Run and completed 28 runs since starting in 1986. After visiting his daughter in Abu Dhabi, David was bitten by the travel bug. David worked at the Pharmasave / Guardian from 1993 to 2020. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maggie (Morrison); son, Neil (Dawnstarr); daughter, Sarah (Nicolas); granddaughters, Tegan, Haedyn and Piper; grandsons, Shamus and Royce; sister, Mary Manning (Timothy); along with nieces and nephews: Allison, Kendall, John, Liz and Lachlan; sister-in-law, Kate Morrison (John). Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place at the Milford Rec. Hall, 2-4pm, Monday, August 15, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. The family would like to thank the staff of 5B and 6B at the VG for their excellent care and compassion. Tributes, words of comfort and memories of David may be shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
