  • Obituary: MANNING, John Richmond, It is with great sadness we announce today, the passing of a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2009, in the loving surroundings of home with family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was the eldest son of the late Elwyn and Mildred (Lade) Manning. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debra (Harris); daughters, Tracy (Karl) Melchior, Dartmouth; Keri (Rob) Warwick, Dartmouth, and son, Troy, Japan; brother, Roy (Wendy) Manning, Halifax; grandsons, Kory and Connor Melchior, Jake Warwick and granddaughter, Madison Warwick; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home. He was employed for 36 years with Crane Supply, and the past four years with DLT Specialty Valves. John's passion was family and music. His greatest joys were spending time with his four grandchildren, working in the yard and playing the bass. He was a long-time member of the band, Amos. His unique and fun loving sense of humour will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held in Good Shepherd Church, 3621 Lawrencetown Rd., Lawrencetown, Saturday, September 12 at 11 a.m. Reception will follow. The family would like to thank the amazing staff of the Nova Scotia Cancer Clinic and Lawrencetown Volunteer Fire Department for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
